Global Alliance Register has introduced a dedicated EU Environmental Claims Verification service to help organizations strengthen the credibility and technical substantiation of their environmental communications.
From 27 September 2026, national measures implementing Directive (EU) 2024/825 will apply across the European Union, strengthening consumer protection against greenwashing. The framework addresses unsupported generic environmental claims, misleading sustainability labels, offset-based product claims, disproportionate claims and environmental comparisons lacking transparent evidence.
Claims concerning future environmental performance—including net-zero, emissions-reduction, renewable-energy and circularity commitments—must be supported by clear, measurable and time-bound commitments contained in a credible implementation plan. Progress against such commitments must be periodically verified by an independent third-party expert.
